Plexipave

Plexipave is an internationally established all-weather, extremely durable, quick drying coloured tennis surface that provides superior resistance to deterioration from ultra-violet rays. With an unrivalled reputation for quality and durability, Plexicushion was chosen as the surface of the Australian Open from 2008 to 2019.

The reputation of Plexipave has been built by manufacturing high quality tennis court surfaces for all project types, from prestigious tournament tennis surfaces to a private residence tennis court surface. Since the mid-1980’s we’ve installed in many of the indoor centres in the UK including L.T.A. International High Performance Centres and High Performance Centres.

Plexipave tennis court surfacing products are known for their consistent speed of play, true ball bounce, durability, low maintenance, vibrant long lasting colours, and overall customer value. The Plexipave system is formulated to meet the requirements of players at any level. There are three options to choose from offering varying degrees of speed and playability. All are rated by the governing body of the game, the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Plexipave IW – ITF Category 1 – Pace: Slow. For those who desire a much slower surface, that is particularly useful for coaching & training, or simply to change the pace of the game, Plexipave has developed the I.W. mixture, first used at the Indian Wells tournament facility in California.

Plexipave Standard – ITF Category 3 – Pace: Medium. Considered by many to be the best combination of consistency-of-play, pace and footing. Plexipave Standard is the traditional and most widely used tennis court surface system. Standard Plexipave provides a consistent and reliable medium-pace playing surface.

Plexipave H.U. – ITF Category 4 – Pace: Medium-Fast. Harvard University has been the birthplace of many great innovations and playing traditions. Plexipave H.U. is no exception.

Har-Tru

Har-Tru is consistent, timeless, and intimately acquainted with some of the greatest moments in the history of the game. Made from billion year old, Pre-Cambrian metabasalt found in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Har-Tru is a natural green stone which is extremely hard and angular. Two very important qualities when it comes to a clay tennis court surface.

Har-Tru has developed the HydroCourt, the only self-regulating system that is totally adjustable to player preference. Owners around the world agree that HydroCourt is the investment of choice that quickly pays for itself. The expense of maintenance down-time is reduced substantially, increasing available court time without interruption.

HydroCourts are constructed with six individually controlled cells.

Each cell is monitored by a separate water filled control box. Water enters the control box and flows through pipes to cells lined with a chemical resistant 20 mm thick hyperlastic container.

As the water level in the control box rises, the water level under the court also rises. You control the amount of moisture in the court surface by adjusting the water level in the control box up or down… it’s that simple!

Over-watered and under-watered areas are common problems with conventional watering systems. The HydroCourt system provides better coverage on the surface by dispensing more evenly underneath the court.

Because this process is automatic, there is no loss of playing time for afternoon brushing and watering. The court plays the same during the afternoon as it does in the morning, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of more consistent play.

Choosing the HydroCourt system means there is no sprinkler system to maintain. The self-regulating system of the HydroCourt provides a constant level of moisture which keeps the surface firm and substantially reduces the amount of brushing and rolling needed to properly maintain the court.

The above-ground watering systems of conventional clay courts can waste water through malfunction, run-off and evaporation during the water cycle. HydroCourts supply only the amount of water necessary to keep the surface sufficiently damp. The result is a 60% savings in water usage.

Porous Macadam

Also known as Porous Tarmac and Porous Asphalt.

The combination of lower cost and the free draining nature has made this type of surface a popular choice for new courts.

The surface is easily upgraded to other surfaces allowing staged upgrade programmes.

Non-porous Acrylic

This surface  is installed over an impermeable base of crushed graded stone topped with one or two courses of dense asphalt or concrete.

The acrylic surface applied to the base may be cushioned and is available in a wide choice of colours.

Acrylics can be used indoors or outside.

Lines are permanently incorporated in the surface.

Polymeric

Polymeric surfaces are flexible and resilient.

Installations may use preformed sheets or in situ laid surfaces.

To create the suface synthetic rubber or EPDM is bound together with a binder (normally polyurethane) overlaid with a thin structure coat for additional strength.

Polymerics can be porous or non-porous depending on the sub-base used.

Artificial Grass

Synthetic turf comes in a variety of constructions.

Each has advantages and disadvantages. But all are considered “comfortable”.

Installed over a suitable base the surface is porous. Line markings are usually permanent.

By considering what the needs of the users are it is possible to select a version that best meets those needs.

Clay & Synthetic Clay

Real clay surfaces are difficult to maintain in a wet climate so the advantages of synthetic clay are easy to see.

Synthetic clay plays like real clay but without the need for high levels of maintenance.

Seamless Polyurethane Floors

Seamless polyurethane flooring is hard-wearing and useful.

Components include a rubber shock pad, coats of specialised polymers that are painted to provide grip and protection.

The surface is smooth, making it easy to clean.

Surfaces can be marked for many different sports.

The cushion effect helps reduce the risks of ligament and joint damage.

Sports Lines Application

We have a comprehensive range of sports marking compounds in a variety of standard colours

Lines can be applied either directly to the surface or in addition to any varnish or colour coating.

For the majority of indoor surfaces we use 2-pack PU line paints.

If other types of paint are specified, we are normally able to supply them.
